If you have come this far, thank you very much!
There is probably enough to go on to have a reasonable conversation.
I will set out the course these proects have usually followed, to a successful conclusion.
There may be variations of course, depending on the nature of the project; size, scope, budget, timescale and so on.
THE INITIAL UNDERSTANDING
The process begins with a conversation.
Keywords such as productive, positive, constructive, fruitful and mutually beneficial.
Steps In The Process

THE DESIGN PROCESS
This may be regarded as the inception of a project, and agreements signed.
There will naturally be a fee, although I will usually have begun to sketch ideas, gratis,
to give everyone some notion of a shape.
This process consists of sprouting all possible ideas and separating out those that are likely to bear fruit.
These, to continue the analogy, are then pruned and nursed into shape, likely helped by sketches and drawings in suitable media. These robust and healthy shoots are cultivated, the others edited, incorporated,
or eliminated.
There may or may not be 'finished' design presentations, depending, but the
outcome is a set of design drawings which can be realised in physical form.
THE WORKS
This would usually be rendered into three tranches of payment; to begin, in advance; at an agreed half-way point. We can both then see the rate of progress, and have an idea of the overall shape.
The final third payment to signify a satisfactory conclusion.
The first, you must trust me to deliver; the second, we can both see what we have, and the third, I must trust you!
The conclusion of this whole process is often a cause for celebration.
We all then move on.
But the work remains.
Many people will doubtless see it who will have no idea of how it came to be. The work, however, remains.
